The Our Rights mobile application offers a comprehensive set of features designed to educate and empower garment workers in Cambodia about their labor rights and occupational health and safety. Notably, the app provides easy access to essential information, including employment contracts, wages, working hours, dispute resolution, maternity rights, safety protocols, and more. Additionally, incorporating visual elements such as illustrations and charts, along with voiceovers in Khmer, enhances understanding and accessibility for users. Furthermore, the app supports offline functionality, enabling workers to access content without an internet connection. Push notifications are crucial in informing users about updates in labor laws and occupational health and safety regulations. The app supports multiple languages, including English and Khmer, to cater to a diverse user base. Lastly, Pegotec, in collaboration with GIZ, ensures the app’s optimal performance and security through ongoing maintenance and hosting services.
The “Our Rights – Labor Law in Cambodia App” features a quiz to enhance user engagement and reinforce knowledge retention. Users are presented with chapter-based quiz questions about labor rights, occupational health, and safety. The multiple-choice format allows users to assess their understanding and select the correct answer. If a question is answered incorrectly, users can re-answer until the correct response is chosen. The quiz feature reflects real-life scenarios, encouraging the practical application of knowledge. A points and ranking system fosters competition and motivates workers to strive for higher scores, promoting continuous learning.
The “Our Rights – Labor Law in Cambodia App” was developed using cutting-edge technologies to ensure efficiency, sustainability, and a seamless user experience. Firstly, the app was natively developed for Android, leveraging the Flutter framework for efficient cross-platform development. The app follows a clean, modern, and professional design, adhering to the principles of Material Design. Moreover, it offers online and offline functionality, allowing users to access information without an internet connection. The user-friendly interface with a highly contrasted design ensures ease of use and accessibility for all users. The app supports multiple languages, including Khmer and English, to cater to a diverse user base.
Furthermore, Pegotec implemented a functional and intuitive web-based backend platform for content management, enabling GIZ staff to quickly update and manage the app’s content. Push notifications keep users informed about new developments, ensuring they stay updated with labor laws and occupational health and safety regulations. Moreover, voiceover integration provides an additional layer of accessibility, allowing users to listen to the questions and answers in Khmer.
Furthermore, Pegotec provides 24-month hosting and maintenance services to ensure the app’s smooth operation, security, and reliability. This commitment to ongoing support guarantees that the app remains functional and up to date, meeting the users’ needs.
